Male Bulbous Nose Before and After Surgery Photos: Improving a Large, Rounded Nose with Lateral Nostril Reduction (Alarplasty) > O.P Column

Hello, this is Dr. Kim Hyung-taek from Kowon Plastic Surgery Clinic.

Today, I would like to introduce before and after photos of a male patient who underwent bulbous nose surgery.

A bulbous nose, sometimes called a “boxer’s nose,” is characterized by a thick, rounded, and spread-out nasal tip. The nasal bridge is also quite low.

As you can see in the photo, the nasal tip appears squashed and the nostrils are flared out to the sides.

The squashed and spread appearance of the nasal tip can be corrected by suturing the nasal tip cartilage, which narrows and pulls it together.

The excessive soft tissue in the nasal tip is reduced as much as possible through soft tissue removal.

This is the result after performing nasal tip cartilage suturing, soft tissue removal, and lateral nostril reduction (alarplasty).

You can clearly see that the nose is now much smaller, which has significantly altered the overall impression of the face.

The frontal view also shows that the nose appears smaller, making the patient’s facial features look sharper and less blunt.

The patient had a very low nose bridge initially. Since he desired a natural look, we used a minimal amount of silicone for augmentation. Additionally, since there was a slight dorsal hump, we performed a minor shaving procedure to smooth it out.
