Primary Rhinoplasty Experience at Kowon Plastic Surgery > Real Review

After doing some research, I decided on Kowon. I was impressed by Dr. Kim’s 20+ years of experience and the fact that he only performs surgeries 2–3 days a week, which showed me that he prioritizes quality over quantity.

Consultation Day

When I first arrived at Kowon, I was nervous, but the consultant, JuYeon, was so kind and patient that I quickly felt at ease. I showed her a photo of Karina (my dream look), but she explained that while it wasn’t realistic to achieve Karina’s nose with my features, I could aim for a look similar to Go Youn-Jung. Honestly, hearing that gave me hope—I’ve always been insecure about my incredibly bulbous nose, so even looking close to Go Youn-Jung made me feel appreciated.

Since I study abroad and needed to return soon, I asked if my surgery could be scheduled quickly. JuYeon helped me to get everything arranged for the surgery within three days, including follow-ups, and aftercare schedule. She was so organized and helpful throughout the entire process.

After discussing my nose with JuYeon, I took an MRI of my face, and then I met with Dr. Kim. To my relief, I didn’t have to wait long—some clinics keep you waiting for hours, so this was a big plus for me.

Dr. Kim was straightforward and honest, which I really liked. He explained the realistic limits of my nose and didn’t make false promises about achieving a “perfect” nose. Instead, he showed me a photoshopped preview of what my nose could look like after surgery, and his explanation was so detailed and thoughtful. Even though he had just finished a surgery before meeting me, he took his time to answer all my questions without rushing.

Surgery Day

On the day of the surgery, I couldn’t eat or drink because of the anesthesia, which I was a little nervous about. But when I met with JuYeon and Dr. Kim again to go over the plan, their calm and professional demeanor reassured me.

The sleeping anesthesia wasn’t as painful as I thought it would be. I remember falling asleep quickly, and before I knew it, the surgery was over. When I woke up, my nose wasn’t too swollen, and the pain was still manageable. As the anesthesia wore off, I felt some discomfort, especially in my ear (from the cartilage harvest), but the medication they provided helped a lot.

The next day, my nose became more swollen, and breathing through it was hard, which was the most challenging part for me. Drinking water with a straw was also tricky at first. The clinic gave me pumpkin juice, which I later learned helps reduce swelling, so I ordered more online to speed up the process.

Aftercare and Results

Kowon’s aftercare is excellent. I went back for swelling laser treatments, splint removal, and stitch removal, and the staff was always friendly and professional. JuYeon checked in on me frequently, making sure I was comfortable and answering any questions I had.

When the splint came off, I could already see that my nose looked higher and slimmer. Dr. Kim assured me that the shape will become even more refined as the swelling continues to go down, and I’m excited to see the final results.
